Sacred Water
by Stacy Davidowitz
directed by Dan Balkin
featuring: Lauren Berst, Duane Cooper, Anjili Pal, Cherie C. Rice, Jehan Young
Rag and Bone Theater Co. is proud to present, after a period of development with the playwright, a workshop reading of this compelling new work.
Sacred Water is a darkly comic manifestation of psychosis for two would-be parents. As Earl relives the days leading up to his daughter Penelope's birth from within the confines of his hopsital ward, Mercedes does everything she can to ignore the horrible event that, 9 years ago, has led her to an inevitable date with the electric chair.

Pablo Picasso Workshop Series and Image Lab
a Rag and Bone collaboration
In a series of workshops, Rag and Bone Theater Co. has begun exploring, through Viewpoints and Compositional exercises, how Picasso's methods of "quoting" his idols (Rembrandt, Matisse, Poussin) can translate into the medium of theater.
Through character exploration, stage picture evolution, and the physical manifestation of the artistic process, we will enter Picasso's world of the Artist and Model, the Studio, the Embrace, and the Bullfighter. And yet, in the end, we will have found something that was created by the ensemble, and which is seen wholly through our own lens; A Rag n' Bone ensemble creation, inspired by the late work of Pablo Picasso.

The Doctor and the Devils
by Dylan Thomas
adapted and directed by Dan Balkin
featuring: David Jenkins, Nathan Todd, Madeline Blue, Katie Stults, Kristy Powers, and Abdel Gonzalez
First imagined over the summer of 2008, this chilling adaptation of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas's screenplay tells the tale of a world-class anatomist who turns to the city's most wretched for a fresh supply of corpses to dissect. When a trio of entrepreneurial graverobbers decide to up the ante, we see a tragic -- and at times sinisterly hilarious -- series of events weave the noose of fate.
Originally presented at the Wings Theater in New York, The Doctor and the Devils was extensively workshopped for its appearance in the 2009 International FringeNYC Festival in New York, where it enjoyed a sold out run at the Milagro Theater on the Lower East Side. These performances marked the first time Thomas's screenplay had been adapted for the stage in the United States.

Gin & Jazz Inspired by the tales of F. Scott Fitzgerald
adapted and directed by Dan Balkin featuring David Jenkins, Katie Stults, Abdel Gonzalez, Kristy Powers, Leif Steinert, Travis Kendrick, Ava Mihaljevich, Laura Lee Swanson, and The Offshore Pirates Jazz Band
Inspired by the dance, music and writing of the 1920's, with text drawn directly from Fitzgerald's original short stories and a four-piece jazz band led by Sekei Ishizuka playing all through the night, this boozy evening styled after a Gatsby West Egg party wove together tales of wild, irresponsible young love and bittersweet loss.
Presented at the Abrazo gallery in the CSV Cultural Center on the Lower East Side over four hot nights in July, 2010, Gin & Jazz brought champagne and a solid dose of Jazz Age revelry to crowded audiences at every performance.
